The red tailed hawk is back; at least I assume it is the same one that was here last summer. I see him circling and calling and have heard two of them but have not seen the second one. It might be his mate that was with him here last year. Last summer they sat in the trees around the field behind the house and hunted voles and rabbits in the field.
Last year they did aerial acrobatics performing an amazing mating dance in the air. The maneuvers were incredible. Then they would circle on the updrafts, calling to each other off and on all day long. If there is love in the animal kingdom, then this must truly describe it.
