Colonial House

The second floor passage provides access to three additional bedchambers, including ours. This area would have served as work space. An easy chair in the front of the passage provides a place to sit and relax or read. The two-piece crown moulding in the second floor passage is the simplest of all the crown mouldings used in the house because guests would have seldom been invited to the second floor. Area and world maps hang on the walls of the passage.

The second floor passage has a large area for with an easy chair for relaxing and reading. A chest against the wall holds blankets and linens.

Framed maps of the Chesapeake area hang on the wall of the second floor passage. Maps were very popular in the 18th century. Note that north is to the right; placing north at the top of the map was not a standard practice in the 18th century.
